THE FULL STORY ON COLOR
Hair color has been something people – particularly women – have ben fascinated by for centuries. The top hair and makeup stylists understand the whole story – the theory and practice of color – in order to provide their clients the look and final effect they want.
How Your Natural Hair Gets Its Color
Natural hair color comes from two color producers (eumelanin and pheomelanin) contained in the central part of each hair. These combine in to produce the hair colors we see.
- Eumelanin provides black and brown coloration from three primary colors – blue, red and yellow. The more it is present, the darker your hair will be and it also gives the overall hair color a cool look, like ash.
- Pheomelanin provides red and yellow tones. The more it is present, the warmer the color of your hair color will be – so you get auburn, strawberry or gold
There are other elements that go into getting a spectacular color effect – like tone, depth, and correct treatment – that determine what the color specific client wants to get will be created. Other considerations are glossiness, body, and the ability of the colored hair to take styling.
